First WRC
decoration
Subaru Impreza WRC was the first World Rally Car, design of which rumoredly began even before FIA approved WRC rules.

Compared to previous Impreza 555, biggest changes of Impreza WRC were aerodynamics. Base model remained same but front bumper and huge rear wing were new plus that car was wider. Revised aerodynamics made car more stable on high speed.

Engine was moved further back to improve weight distribution and manifolding was improved. However, as with hastily built Escort WRC, Impreza WRC was not that different from Group A version.
