WRC2005 is the final phase in the three year planned product cycle. Not drastically different from it's precessors, it still is a different car. Like with WRC2004, rule changes have played a part as WRC2005 is 30mm wider. That means slightly more pronounced wheel arches even though that is difficult to spot with naked eye. Wider track means more stable car performance-wise but has forced team to redesign suspension parts in order to fully utilize the extra width.
More visible changes have taken place in front bumber which, as team diplomatically puts it, "incorporates lessons learned over the last 12 months". That, of course, also refers to problems that WRC2004 had with water crossings and even though there is little to point fingers at, front bumper has been re-styled into a more flat type.
And as always, internal components have changed too. Water injection was made more precise, cockpit electronics have been re-packaged and new turbo by IHI, which had received major attention resulting wider power and torque curve, was installed.
