Head of Skoda Motorsport (2004-2005)
Martin Muehlmeier joined the Skoda Motorsport at the beginning of March 2004, having spent previous six years with the Audi Sport team that claimed successive Le Mans victories between 2000-2002.
Muehlmeier studied vehicle dynamics at the Technical University of Braunschweig between 1983 and 1988 before graduating at the Volkswagen research department in 1991. From 1992-1996 he was a development engineer at VW in Wolfsburg before joining Audi Sport in 1997 as head of vehicle dynamics testing and simulation department where he remained until joining Skoda Auto.
With the appointment of Martin Muehlmeier, Skoda Motorsport was able to draw more closely on the technical resources throughout the entire VW Group while retaining autonomy over its activities. While Skoda Motorsport made progress with Fabia WRC in 2004 and 2005, ultimately their programme got cancelled and private, Red Bull backed team took up the effort.
