Team manager, Skoda Motorsport (1990-2003)
Pavel is long-time Skoda employee, having started with the factory as a technician in early 1970's. Working through the ranks he moved on to post-sales inspector and eventually to Skoda Motorsports.
As Pavel was former rally driver himself and spoke fluent french, he was promoted to chief of motorsports in 1990 when former chief Jiri Kotek left. Under Janeba's guidance Skoda team stabilized and modernized, culminating to unexpected F2 world cup title with little Favorit in 1994.
This began slow but steady progress towards the top formula, first with bigger kit cars Felicia and Octavia until for 1999 season Skoda debuted their first World Rally Car. For four years team learned the ropes of top rallying with Octavia WRC before second generation Fabia was introduced.
Unfortunately Fabia WRC failed to meet great expectations and Skoda did not register to 2004 championship in order to concentrate on development. Janeba took the blame and resigned.
