Rohrl strikes back
It is easy to see why Rohrl lifted the title, being the sole driver scoring more than one win and most podiums during the season. He also scored all of Fiat's wins bar one. Interestingly, Walter had not been very lucky in previous season.
Argentinian revolution
Not quite but it is interesting to note that as soon as WRC event was held in Argentina, immediately two argentinian drivers finished on podium during the year. Carlos Reutemann in Codasur and Jorge Recalde in Ivory Coast.
On or off Mikkola
Hannu Mikkola either finished on podium (four times, one third of his entries) or on the side of the road (six times, over half of his entries), topping both statistics.
Leaders and winners
It is no big surprise that eventual world champion Rohrl won more stages and led rallies for more stages than anyone else. But it might be a slight surprise that second place on both statistics went to young driver called Vatanen. That name would become famous later.
