2019 winner Tanak was hailed as pre-event favourite and he lived up to the expectations even though on first day team mate Latvala led with superb times. When Tanak's road position improved on second day, he promptly took the lead and held it till the end.

Hyundai made a big step forward in performance. They still couldn't challenge for the outright win but were on pace against Citroen and newly drafted Breen was initially fastest. On second day, Mikkelsen (pictured) proved faster and eventually finished fourth.

Suninen started with great expectations but soon found out that car no longer had speed to be competitive. Quite the contrary, Ford were slowest of the lot and that frustrated the driver who clearly had skill needed to shine at home. Finishing eight with problem free rally was a huge disappointment.
