Toyota's testing work paid dividends, at one point they even held top three positions. Until Latvala again encountered electrical gremlins and retired from lead and Hanninen was pipped for second by Evans on final stage. Lappi was unfazed and drove through to claim his maiden win in a great style. Click picture to see larger version in a pop-up window
Elfyn Evans

Ford had mixed fortunes as Ogier crashed heavily, injuring co-driver Ingrassia which ruled Rally2 out for them. Tanak was fast but hit rock and lost half of the rim. Evans was left to defend the honours and he did so with vigour, driving wedge between Toyota's Finns and finishing second. Click picture to see larger version in a pop-up window
Craig Breen

Citroen had rested Meeke on previous event which arguably was completely wrong decision as he had no confidence at all. Last year's winner finished only 8th while teammate Breen (pictured) was two minutes faster and fifth despite ill-handling car. Click picture to see larger version in a pop-up window
Thierry Neuville

Thierry Neuville struggled to find any speed at all but still he was fastest of the Hyundais as teammate Paddon hit rock and retired twice and Sordo has never felt at home in Finland. Neuville collected not only barrier tape from chicanes but also enough points to draw on level with Ogier. Click picture to see larger version in a pop-up window
