Ott Tanak

Tanak's road position helped him to take early lead but after a few stages Breen went past. Tanak wasn't quite happy with the car's handling but despite this he still reeled Breen in and re-took lead in Saturday, despite suffering delaminated tyre on SS14. Fast roads meant that even slender lead was defendable and so Tanak claimed win in his only second outing with new team. Click picture to see larger version in a pop-up window
Craig Breen

M-Sport dropout Craig Breen seemed to thumb his nose at his former team by staying in front of their lead driver for much of the rally. Unfortunately his tyre delamination cost more than Tanak's, shrinking the lead to mere 0,5 second. When Tanak goes past, Hyundai wants Breen to slip behind Neuville but Neuville's mistake on Power Stage elevates Breen back to 2nd overall despite penalty he takes. Kalle Rovanpera

Rovanpera started first on the road and it was best position only for the first stage in Thursday. On Friday he suffered, even on re-runs due to smaller cars using different lines. On Saturday Kalle experimented with settings but went wrong way, also admitting having wrong tyre strategy. All this combined means even with most stage wins, the best Toyota finished 4th overall.
