Sweden saw another podium lock-out for Toyota. Solberg led for the first stage but he went into a bank on SS3. Evans (pictured) had taken lead after SS2 and seemed to hold off opposition. However, both Katsuta and Pajari were fired up and Katsuta even had lead for two stages at the final stages of Friday. Evans recaptured it and controlled his lead until finish.

Pre-event, Hyundai spoke confidently about having a car on podium as they fielded previous winner Lappi. For much of the rally, he was fastest Hyundai despite complaining about lack of grip but surprisingly on penultimate stage Lappi was slow (or slowed down) and it made Fourmaux (pictured) the fastest Hyundai over the finish line, albeit behind four Toyotas.

M-Sport was where they nowadays always are, behind. Team's newcomer Armstrong (pictured) put on surprisingly strong showing, posting some respectable times and mainly staying out of trouble with just initial hassle on SS1 snowbank incident and overshooting junction on SS7. Team-mate McErlean was one position behind all the way, suffering tyre pressure alert without any visible reason.
