The catch-phrase "an Icon Evolves" in the page title is from Subaru World Rally Team but whether the move away from sedan body shell is one for better is open for debate. Visually, hatchback is very different from previous Imprezas and aesthetically it is almost ugly. Matter of opinions aside, it was almost entirely new car.
Almost - the only iconic and Subaru-exclusive feature that has been retained is the four-cylinder boxer engine. Besides the new shape, also the iconic bonnet scoop is gone and though color scheme retains the blue, yellow has given way to silver. Everyone in the team pinned their hopes on the new car and it got off to a nice start, finishing 2nd overall at it's debut. Unfortunately for the team, that was to be it's best result.
