MAKES - PODIUM FINISHERS |
| Win was 36th win and 1-2 win were 75th to 76th podiums for Volkswagen. |
| Third place was 9th podium for Hyundai. |
Ogier headed home as a clear winner but story is not that simple. He fought hard for the lead with Kris Meeke and for first two days was unable to pull away.
Neuville had final stage scare when his transmission stuck to 2WD. Hyundai's new car had troubled start as set-up was initially too soft but clever tyre strategy on third day got them two stage wins.
Mads Ostberg was back with Ford and his approach to new (though) familiar team was steady and careful. That paid dividends in the end as he was fourth despite not showing any great speed.
Citroen got back only one car - that of Stephane Lefebvre - because the second fastest man of the rally - Kris Meeke - holed his gearbox in SS12 and was forced to retire.
