Gronholm was pre-event favourite but as a championship leader, he suffered from having to sweep gravel in Leg 1. He recovered in Leg 2, took the lead and won.

Another rally and another youngster held lead early-on, this time it was Subaru's Chris Atkinson. Like Latvala in Sardinia, he lost lead but not due to a mistake.
