While others stalled, spun or crashed, Jari-Matti Latvala came through as a surprise winner without taking a single stage win.

Ogier drover near-perfect rally and led much of the way despite being first timer in New Zealand. He was on course to score his maiden win but a stall and a spin in final stage spoiled the result.

Loeb crashed into a bridge in first day and dropped almost two minutes. He then charged up the leaderboard, took the lead and went off again.
