Richard makes a surprise visit to Rallyday 2005 at Castle Combe Circuit where some of his original rally cars were being driven.

Medical tests reveal that Richard is suffering from astrocytoma, a sort of brain cancer. For treatment and recovery he will miss 2004 season.

Burns faints just before Rally GB recce and is forced to miss the rally for medical reasons. At that time he was 4th in the title race, five points behind championship leader.
