Engineer, Skoda Motorsport (1998-2000) Chief engineer, Skoda Motorsport (2001-2005)
Dietmar Metrich joined Skoda Motorsport as engineer in 1998. Prior to that he was working in Germany with the Mitsubishi Ralliart Group N team that claimed the Group N World Championship.
His extensive knowledge of four-wheel drive and turbocharging was a vital element in his portfolio when he joined Skoda Motorsport to work on the first Octavia World Rally Car, breaking away from the traditional two-wheel drive cars that had been the mainstay of Skoda Motorsport's history.
At the end of 2005 season Dietmar resigned, aiming to spend more time with his family, only to return with Red Bull Skoda team next season.
